How answers appear in a conversation
This is the part that surprises people at first. IRIS is not a chatbot that replies to everything you say — it is a quiet assistant that speaks up only when it helps. Three things to expect:
Someone asks — IRIS answers
When the other person asks a factual question, IRIS puts the answer on your lens. Statements and chit-chat don't trigger it — a real question does.
A few seconds, not instant
IRIS waits to hear the whole question, then thinks. The answer appears a few seconds after the person finishes speaking — not the instant they start.
Silence during small talk
During ordinary back-and-forth it deliberately shows nothing, so it never distracts you. No cue means "nothing worth interrupting for" — not a failure.
Pick a mode for what you're doing
A mode is just how IRIS decides when to speak up. Tap the mode name before you start (scroll the ring on the glasses, or pick it on the phone). Three come built in — you can edit them or make your own.
Conversation
Answers questions the other person asks, offers a tactful correction if something's clearly wrong, and suggests a good follow-up to ask. The right choice for meetings and Q&A.
Listening
Leans toward gentle follow-up questions and supportive suggestions — for when your job in the room is to make someone feel heard, not to be the expert.
Study
You're the listener at a lecture or presentation. IRIS quietly defines terms, identifies names it hears, and answers questions the speaker poses — and never tells you to say anything.
Running a meeting Q&A
The exact flow for "someone asks me things and I want to answer well."
- Choose Conversation mode, then tap StartThis is the mode built for questions and answers.
- Let the question finishWhen someone asks something, wait for them to complete it — IRIS answers the whole question, not a half-heard one.
- Glance at your lens a few seconds laterThe answer appears with an "ANSWER" label. Read it, then say it in your own words.
- Between questions, it restsNo cue during discussion is normal. It comes back the moment another question lands.
- Afterward, open the sessionYou get a full summary and the questions that came up — handy for the follow-up email.
Trigger an answer yourself, with the ring
IRIS answers questions on its own — but you can also make it answer on demand. Two ring gestures, depending on whether a conversation is running.
Scroll up, tap "Answer that"
IRIS ships with an Answer that action ready to go. Mid-session, scroll up on the ring to open your actions, scroll to it, and tap — IRIS answers on your lens using what it just heard. That's your "shoot the answer" trigger. Want it worded your way? Edit it, or add your own, in Settings → Modes → Quick actions.
Tap the Ask tile and speak
On the glasses Home hub (turn it on in Settings → Home), scroll the ring to Ask, tap, and just say your question. IRIS shows the answer on your lens. Tap to ask another, double-tap to close.
It can reach current information
Questions about live things — prices, scores, who currently holds a title — are answered from a fresh web lookup, with the sources listed so you can check them.
What you get afterward
Every session is saved on your phone. This is where IRIS becomes a memory, not just a live helper.
The conversation, distilled
A clean summary of what was discussed and decided — ready to read or share.
Action items, captured
Follow-ups from the conversation land on your list with one tap, so nothing slips.
It remembers people
Open anyone in your Memory to see what was said, what you decided, and any open commitments — across every past conversation.
If nothing appeared on your lens
Almost always it's one of these — and almost always it's working as intended.
I talked and no answer came up
Most likely nobody asked a factual question — IRIS stays silent during statements and small talk on purpose. Try having someone ask a clear question ("what year was that?", "what's the capital of Spain?") and watch the lens a few seconds later.
It didn't respond the instant I spoke
That's expected. IRIS waits for the full question and then thinks, so the answer lands a few seconds after the speaker finishes — not while they're still talking.
I want it to help me talk to my kid casually
Casual chat is mostly small talk, so Conversation mode will stay quiet most of the time. Switch to Listening mode for gentle follow-up suggestions, or use Ask (Pro) to ask IRIS something directly whenever you want.

No. Open the app, tap Start, and it works — your first 3 sessions are free with everything on. IRIS Pro removes the limit and includes managed AI and speech recognition so there are no keys to manage.
